Relax by the Sea: Beaches Within Walking Distance of Giglio Porto
1. Cala delle Cannelle – 20 minute-walk
Cala delle Cannelle welcomes you with white sand and crystal clear waters reminiscent of the Caribbean. Just a stone’s throw from the port, it is the perfect place to swim, relax, and immediately feel like you’re on vacation. There is a small restaurant and a facility where you can rent deck chairs and umbrellas.
2. Arenile Beach – 30 minute-walk – shuttler service at the harbour
It is one of the most charming beaches on the island of Giglio, less touristy and wild, located on the northeast coast. The beach is characterized by golden granite sand and crystal clear waters ranging from turquoise to emerald green, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. There is a beach club where you can rent umbrellas and pedal boats, as well as a small restaurant.
3. Caldane Beach – 40 minute-walk
Immersion in the unspoiled nature typical of Giglio Island. Accessible on foot via a picturesque scenic trail or by sea with a traditional taxi boat, this cove is ideal for those seeking tranquility and wild beauty..
There is also a beach facility here where you can rent umbrellas and pedal boats, as well as a restaurant.
4.Campese Beach – 25 minute in public transport
The largest beach on Giglio Island, it stretches for about 550 meters in a crescent-shaped bay, framed by the Medici Tower and the Faraglione rock.Characterized by reddish sand, due to the presence of pyrite. It is pleasant to reach it by small public buses that tour the island, so take advantage of this opportunity to admire the breathtaking landscape.
5. Giglio Porto – Maybe not everyone knows that…
If you are short on time or want to take one last dip before the ferry, head straight to the rocks behind the pier at Giglio Porto (green lighthouse area). The water is surprisingly clear, there are stone steps to enter the sea, and you can snorkel right there.

Not just the sea: discover the medieval village and ancient vineyards of the island
1. Borgo of Giglio Castle
The medieval village of Giglio Castello, with its perfectly preserved walls and the Aldobrandesca Fortress, offers picturesque views and breathtaking panoramas of the Tuscan archipelago. Here you can also visit the church of San Pietro Apostolo, which houses a precious ivory cross. Strolling through Giglio Castello, you will also come across ancient stone houses, small flower-filled courtyards, artisan workshops, and a few small bars where you can sample local products, immersing yourself in a familiar and authentic atmosphere. 2. Visit the vineyards and go trekking on Giglio Island
Ansonico, a white wine typical of the island’s terraced vineyards, is grown on Giglio Island. You can visit some local wineries for tastings by appointment. Numerous hiking trails crisscross the cultivation areas, offering breathtaking views, especially from Poggio della Pagana, the highest point. The trails are suitable for various levels of experience and allow you to combine trekking and nature. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

10:35 – Arrival at Giglio Porto
As soon as you disembark, go straight to the bus stop, which is 2 minutes from the port.
Purchase tickets at the tobacconist’s or on board (slight surcharge).
11:00 – Bus to Cala dell’Arenella (Castle direction)
Get off at the “Arenella” stop after a 5-minute bus ride.
Short walk (10 min) down to the beach.
11:15 – Swimming and relaxing in Cala dell’Arenella
Small bay with crystal clear sea, fine sand, shallow seabed.
Quiet, uncrowded setting with bar service and umbrella rental.
12:30 – Back to bus stop Arenella
A gentle 10-minute uphill walk.
13:00 – Bus to Campese (line IG1)
