ALL THE AWARD-WINNING BEACHES OF THE TUSCAN MAREMMA
The 2024 Blue Flags were released this week. An award given to European coastal locations. Blue flags, are not only about water quality, but also about sustainability, citizen services, inclusion, sustainability and more.
This 2024 Tuscany was awarded with 18 locations and four of them are in the Maremma: Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Grosseto and Orbetello. Here is the list of Maremma’s 2024 Blue Flag beaches:

PIAN D’ALMA E CALA CIVETTE (Castiglione della Pescaia)
Pian d’Alma is a little piece of paradise for those who love wild beaches. The beach is devoid of intrusive tourist facilities, although there are a few bathing establishments offering umbrella and sunbed rentals, as well as bars and restaurants. By fording the Alma stream and after a short 180m passage along the cliff, the magnificent beach of Cala Civette is reached. The southern portion, on the other hand, is known as Casetta Civinini Beach and naturally connects to the famous Punta Ala beach, forming a 5.5Km stretch of sand suitable for the whole family.
How to reach it and where to park:
The beach is about 24Km from La Pampa, about 30 minutes by scooter, ask at reception to reserve one! Free parking is available in a dirt parking lot a few meters from the beach

ROCCHETTE, RIVA DEL SOLE, CAPEZZOLO, PONENTE, ROCCAMARE-CASA MORA (Castiglione della Pescaia)
Le Rocchette, one of the most beautiful beaches in Maremma. The water is crystal clear and has a sandy seabed suitable for children, there is also a rocky area to dive from. There are all the necessary services such as bars and restaurants by the sea in addition to the free beach.
How to reach it and where to park:
It is located 20 minutes from the La Pampa Parking Area. Easily reached by following the coastal road SP158/SS322 by scooter or bicycle. Parking fee is 1.50€ per hour or daily rate at 10€.

LEVANTE, TOMBOLO (Castiglione della Pescaia)
Levante Beach is located within the Diaccia Botrona nature reserve, further south it connects to Le Marze beach and is surrounded by the majestic Tombolo pine forest. A less crowded stretch of coastline that nevertheless retains the typical characteristics of beaches in this area: large portion of fine sand, shallow water.
How to reach it and where to park:
It is an 8-minute bike ride starting from the La Pampa rest area (2.5Km) and following the bike path towards Castiglione della Pescaia.

LA FIUMARA (Marina di Grosseto)
The beach at Marina di Grosseto is also protected by a lush coastal pine forest, stretches for 15 kilometers and features the characteristic dunes covered with vegetation. It can be accessed at numerous points directly from the village, large stretches of free beach and numerous bathing establishments and kite surfing schools. All equipped with all amenities, bars and restaurants.
How to reach it
It is a 10-minute walk starting from the La Pampa Parking Area.

PRINCIPINA MARE (Grosseto)
Known as “the beach of sheds,” although the practice of building timbers structures is actually not allowed. Principina Beach borders the Maremma Nature Park, designated a Blue Flag for years, wide free beach and equipped bathing establishments.
How to reach it:
It can be reached in 15 minutes by scooter from the La Pampa, or by bicycle via the bicycle path that connects Grosseto to Marina di Grosseto. Parking is free.
