Relaxing by the Sea: Beaches Within Walking Distance of Portoferraio
1. Spiaggia delle Ghiaie
Just a 10-15 minute walk from the harbor, this white pebble beach is famous for its clear waters and rich marine life.It is partially equipped with a bar, showers and toilets, making it ideal for a relaxing break.
2. Spiaggia della Padulella
Continuing for about 10 minutes beyond Ghiaie, you arrive at Padulella, nestled between high white cliffs. The beach offers a quieter environment and breathtaking views.
3. Spiaggia di Capo Bianco
Another 5-10 minutes’ walk will bring you to Cape Blanc, characterized by white pebbles and crystal clear waters.It is perfect for snorkeling and offers a small bathhouse.
4. Spiaggia di Sottobomba
A wild and scenic cove with white pebbles and turquoise water, nestled between high cliffs. It can be reached on foot from Portoferraio in about 25 minutes, with a final descent via a flight of steps. In summer, a city bus service is available to facilitate access.
