TUSCANY, THE MOST PET-FRIENDLY REGION IN ITALY

In 2023, Airbnb reported a 50 percent global increase in bookings of stays that accept pets. Italy leads the ranking, with a percentage close to 67 percent for travel in our country and even reaching 90 percent for Italians who leave with their faithful companion. Tuscany is Italy’s most pet-friendly region.

Wellness of our pet, the advice of specialists

Traveling with our pets is a pleasure and a responsibility that requires special attention to their needs, especially during the summer. Here some tips from the vet:

Car Sickness
Car movements can stimulate an inner part of the ear that determines the animal’s balance, especially in younger dogs and puppies. Signs of sickness include labored breathing, intense salivation, agitation, lip licking and vomiting. To prevent this, place the dog in a confined space with constant airflow.

High Temperatures
In summer, roads can reach high temperatures, causing burns to the fingertips of dogs. Carefully choose shady paths for daily walks. Sand can get hot for them, too! What to do against extreme heat? Wet their muzzles, paws and backs often with cool water.

Aditional tip: the anti-hot gadget! What does it consist of? Freeze a water toy to give your pet a prolonged feeling of coolness.

Ticks
After each outing, your veterinarian recommends an inspection for ticks. If you find one during the inspection, use a special tool to remove them. Make sure the tick’s mouthparts do not remain embedded in the skin; if they are, disinfect and gently remove them. Over the next few days, check the extraction area. If it changes shape or color, consult a veterinarian.

With these tips, your summer adventure with your furry friend will be unforgettable and safe!
