What to visit in Grosseto

Grosseto, a true fortified citadel enclosed by the Medici Walls. The most interesting monuments are the majestic Cathedral of San Lorenzo dating back to the late 13th century and characterized by its bichromatic facade; the church of San Pietro; the austere church of San Francesco, in Gothic-Franciscan style; and the Archaeological and Art Museum.

According to the local newspaper Sole24Ore, Grosseto ranks second in Italy for the number of restaurants per thousand inhabitants. A stop at one of the city’s restaurants is, therefore, a must, where you can taste local recipes and products such as tortelli maremmani or acquacotta.
