Why choose Maremma for your biking vacation
Bicycle tourism has been growing steadily throughout Italy for several years now. And Tuscany, is one of the regions with the greatest appeal for bicycle enthusiasts, thanks to its unique landscapes of mountains, sea, cities of art and medieval villages. The Maremma in particular has an excellent network of bike trails suitable for the whole family and plenty of bike parks, equipped freeride and downhill trails for the more experienced. In this article we tell you about the main routes to take starting directly from La Pampa Camp.

Family outing to Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve
Pedaling within the Diaccia Botrona nature reserve, one of the most important areas in Tuscany for wintering, staging and nesting of numerous bird species including the pink flamingo and osprey. The scenic route runs almost entirely within the lake area, alternating between bicycle path and dirt roads.

Marina di Grosseto, Principina a Mare, Alberese and Maremma Park
A good route for MTB enthusiasts, beautiful paved bike paths for the most part, surrounded by the pine forest and green fields of the Maremma Grossetana. Within the Maremma Natural Park in Collelungo, it is possible to stand in front of the sea and enjoy the unspoiled landscape. Although of average length, the route does not have any difficult points; it is possible to break up the ride with a picnic lunch or stop at a restaurant near Principina a Mare, Marina di Grosseto or Alberese.
Route of about 50 km, mainly flat but with some uphill parts with gradient never exceeding 6%. Biking time 3 hours. Below, all the route detailed information ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Tirli and Castiglione della Pescaia
Definitely more challenging route, 57km traveled in 4.40h. Hard pedaling! Steep climbs and breathtaking descents with peaks of up to 18% gradient, E-bike recommended. Starting from La Pampa Camp in the direction of Castiglione della Pescaia, we cross the bridge before Castiglione and proceed in the direction of the small village of Tirli, about 400m above sea level. From here it climbs up to 500m circumnavigating Poggio Ballone and then swoops down and up again to Poggio Furia. From here on, the trail presents constant undemanding ups and downs until you reach Poggio Petriccio where the last 300m of elevation gain awaits you before reaching Castiglione della Pescaia to finnaly enjoy a well-deserved rest. Then last ride in the direction of Marina di Grosseto to close the route.

Castiglione della Pescaia – Punta Ala – Rocchette beach, intermediate difficulty
A scenic 55km route that can be covered in about 3.30h, it alternates between bike path and paved road. The route has two major elevation gains with a peak of 170m elevation gain and never more than 10% gradient. To ride it requires good training and having a MTB or Gravel. From tLa Pampa Camp, one must take the Collacchie provincial road in the direction of Castiglione della Pescaia. Continue until you reach Pian D’Alma and then descend toward Capo Civinini until you reach the famous seaside resort of Punta Ala. Arriving here, we take a spectacular scenic path that skirts the sea and, once past the Rocchette fort, a side road takes us back in the direction of Castiglione della Pescaia.

Grosseto – Principina a Mare, low difficulty
A beautiful ride through the cultivated fields of the Maremma Grossetana, passing along the seafront of Marina di Grosseto and Principina a Mare to eventually reach Grosseto. The route alternates between sections of main, secondary and bicycle roads, not always paved but absolutely easy to navigate. From La Pampa Camping, turn right in the direction of the sea, you will easily find signs for Marina di Grosseto and then pass through Principina a Mare and Principina Terra; after a short stretch of provincial road, you take a beautiful secondary road until you reach Grosseto. The return way is entirely within the bike path that connects Grosseto to Marina di Grosseto.
